Diarmuid: Hello and welcome to Olympic English from BBC Learning English. I’m Diarmuid.
Li: And I’m Yang Li. What are we going to learn about today Diarmuid?
Diarmuid: Today we’re going to learn more about shopping, in particular shopping for clothes.
Li: 今天我们要和大家一起谈论的话题就是买衣服。
Diarmuid: That’s right. Now a question that many shop assistants need to use is: Can I help you?
Li: Can I help you? 我能帮你吗？ 这是商店里的售货员经常会用到的一句话。
Diarmuid: The customer can then say what they are looking for. For example, I’m looking for a jacket.
Li: I’m looking for a jacket. 我想买一件夹克衫。买东西的顾客可以用 I’m looking for 这个短语后面加上想买的东西，像这样…
Diarmuid: I’m looking for a coat.
Li: 我想买一件大衣。
Diarmuid: I’m looking for a shirt.

Diarmuid: I’m looking for a pair of trousers.

Diarmuid: A very common phrase in shopping is this: I’m just looking.
Li: I’m just looking 我只是看看。

A: Hello, can I help you?
B: Yes, I’m looking for a shirt.
A: Hi, can I help you?
B: No thanks, I’m just looking.
Diarmuid: Another question that a shop assistant can ask is: what size are you?
Li: What size are you? 你穿多大号？
Diarmuid: And when a customer finds what they want, they will often ask this question: can I try it on?
Li: Can I try it on? 我能试试吗？
Diarmuid: And finally, the shop assistant can ask: how would you like to pay?
Li: How would you like to pay? 你想怎么付款？
Diarmuid: The customer replies: I’ll pay by cash.
Li:我交现金。
Diarmuid: Or... I’ll pay by card.
Li:我刷卡。
