Fastener, particularly for jewellery chains, with a first element (30) formed asspring closure having a substantially U-shaped form and a second element (50, 70) whichengages said spring closure (30), where a tube-shaped leg (32) of the spring closure (30)guides a further tube-shaped element (33) therein, which is connected in a suitable way toa plate (34) perpendicular thereto, and which is moveable in the longitudinal direction ofthe leg actuating the opening and closing function of the spring closure being biased inthe closed position of the spring closure through the action of a resilient means, saidsecond element (50, 70) being so formed that the longitudinal movement of the flatelement causing the opening and closing of the spring closure can be actuated by saidsecond element, characterized in that, the second tube-shaped element (33) isadditionally guided by a rod (38) extending into the tube interior, which is fixed to thespring closure (30) and whose length is such that it even at the furthest possible

displacement of the tube-shaped element (33), it remains in contact with this element andthat the second element (50, 70) is formed to have at least one opening for engaging thebow (36) of the spring closure (30) and that said opening joins an opening (52, 72) whosesmallest spacing is at least so large that the second element (50, 70) can pass over therod (38), but on the other hand is not so large that the bow (36) of the spring closure (30)

can pass through this opening.
