摘要:This invention provides a novel process of producing magnetically responsivepolymer particles comprising polym eric core particles coated evenly with a layer ofpolymer containing magnetically responsive metal oxide. A wide variety of polymericparticles with sizes ranging from 1 to 100 microns can be used as core particles andtransformed into magneti cally responsive polymer particles. The surface of thesemagnetically responsive polymer particles can be coated further with another layer offunctionalized polymer. These magnetically responsive polymer particles can be used forpassive or covalent coupling of biological material such as antigens, antibodies, enzymesor DNA/RNA hybridization and used as solid phase for various types of immunoassays,DNA/RNA hybridization probes assays, affinity purification, cell separa tion and othermedical, diagnostic, and industrial applications.
